Lochgelly & District Darts Association has just ended its 63rd season, having been founded in 1948.

In 1941 there was a darts league in Lochgelly which was started by the A.R.P (Air Raid Patrol), with teams from Lochgelly, Glencraig, Lochore and Cowdenbeath participating in it until the end of the war.

Then in 1948, Lochgelly and District Darts Association was formally founded, with teams from the Lochgelly, Glencraig, Lochore, Ballingry, Cardenden and Kinglassie area’s participating in the league. In 2007 the association started to allow teams from the Kirkaldy area into the association after The Abbey formally asked to join the association at the 2007 Annual General Meeting.

Tam Faulds has been our longest serving member of the committee, having just retired this year from the position of Treasurer after 37 years of service. and for all his time and effort over the years the position of Honorary Treasurer was bestowed upon Tam by the members of the association as a reward and a thank you to him or his service to the association. On our League Finals Day in 2001 he was presented with a silver salver, to acknowledge his 25 years service to the League.

Lochgelly's League committee has gone on to provide the Fife Inter-County Darts team with some top players in the past, and present, and has also provided 5 County team managers; Tam Frost,  Tam Taylor,  John Cook, Willie Glen, and  Bobby Adamson.

Both Andy Kilgour and Willie Paterson share the record for winning the League Singles title for the most consecutive years - which is 3 times. Willie has won the Singles title the most, on 6 occasions now, and Andy has won it 5 times. In 2009 Alec Jeffrey recorded his ninth win of the George McCormack the league's only open competition.
